I'm rather inconsistent with my CS use, or was until recently. But for the
first three motnhs or so I used CS every day and noticed no reduction of
plaque or tartar and no whitening of my teeth. I've been using CS
intermittently in the ensuing two years, and now twice per day every day for
about three weeks. No improvement. Darn it.

Nearly everyone who has taken notice has reported plaque and tarter
loosening or simply vanishing within a few weeks time of using CS as a
mouth wash after each brushing.
How long have you been doing it?
