Ronald, NO NO NO!!!! do not use copper tubing as the hot steam will put copper into the distilled water.
When I bought my spectrophotometer the first test that they suggested was to check the DW for copper. The only materials that are acceptable are 316 stainless steel, pyrex glass (borosilicate glass), or quartz, that is if you want pure DW. Then you will have a reasonable DW but it will be loaded with nitrogen. To solve that one needs an argon atmosphere in the still.
