Hi Leacy, Please, you do not need to use KCl, it covers up the readings that will tell you what you are making. The milky color is silver chloride and it is useless as far as the body is concerned. You do not need any starters to make CS.
Your initial reading without KCl should be 0.2 to 0.5 ma. (not amps.) and when the reading goes to 3.0 to 3.5 then stop the brew. Been there and done that 4 yesrs ago.
