I had a similar experience the other day with my own poison of choice,
coffee. With my wife out of town I was feeling free to indulge in a
couple mugs of very strong coffee each morning instead of my usual mug
of tea. After nearly a week of this the infection+inflammation I had
been successfully treating with 8oz of CS per day flared up bigtime.
It's taken a few days and very large doses of CS, but I'm back to
normal.

For several days now I have been taking saliva and urine pH readings
morning and evening, and what is interesting is that my pH levels,
especially the urinary, were very acidic when the inflammation was
active. Now that I'm off the coffee and the inflammation has died down
the pH levels have become more alkaline. I think the coffee threw my
physiology way off balance and into an acid state where the infection
could rage despite my taking CS. I, too, had been lulled into
complacency by CS's remarkable efficacy.
