Hiya, Doc! Still lurking over here? Well, get your dishwashing rubber gloves on, and some DMSO from a farm supply house. It may or may not also contain some cortisone... but in any event its probably the same stuff that the vets in the area are using. Pour some liberally on a folded paper towel and start dabbing away at the joint until the fur and skin are saturated. The animal will quickly start oxidizing the DMSO and evidences this with a case of very bad breath. If it gets through your rubber gloves (don't use your hospital variety latex) you'll also exhibit bad breath. Completely harmless. Use the DMSO full strength as it comes ready for veterinary use from the farm supply. -- (How's your book coming along?) Namste Bob Bartell

She is limping on three legs most of the time. Any suggestions? Do I have to shave her fur in order to get the DMSO into her system? How much should I use? Thanks.
