The Costco/Mountolivio company responds that the way they keep their prices so low is....
"Our competitiveness is due to a long experience in the olive oil trading of the Gasparini Family." The rest of the olive oil producing world sells cheap products by cutting corners in production (machine harvesting, waiting too long to process, including damaged olives, etc.) and by adulterating and using chemicals to process. The Gasparini family, on the other hand, has been able to do something no one else has been able to do. The Gasparini family sounds pretty smart. Maybe if they were a little smarter they would sell their olive oil for the price charged for other high quality olive oil. Maybe, as someone suggested, there is a difference between being 'declared' extra virgin olive oil and being labeled extra virgin olive oil. There is clearly something wrong somewhere and I find it hard to believe that it has much to do with the cleverness of one family. -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
