Catherine, the battery on the tongue might work really well, but it sure is hard on the tongue!! H. Clark says you can use a battery and get a good zap by repeatedly tapping it on the palm of the hand (there is more to that but I forget!), but it isn't as beneficial and the battery won't last long. Anyway, the zapper does a lot for me. pj
