Our lab techs have modified dozens of systems using this
exact modification. Just be sure that the secondary current NEVER
exceeds the rated amperage of the LOWEST rated "wall-wart" type device.
Although not completely
necessary, a much smoother.....almost pure D.C. voltage may be achieved
athrough using about a 200 uf electrolytic across the output (secondary)
of the xformer assembly. Just be sure the capacitor is rated above the
maximum expected secondary voltage excursion and that you pay attention
to the polarities of the transformer output and the electrolytic
capacitor.
