Jason said,
"The wholesale "slaughter" of silver by various
"authorities" must be met with even-handed, rational
inquiry, and the open exchange of information. The FDA
has not even begun its wholesale attack on things such
as colloidal
silver."

I fear the reality is that rational inquiry has never
counted for much when the media is helping promote a
"witch-hunt" against something. The amount of hard
scientific evidence in support of the harmlessness of
colloidal silver (and the toxicity of silver
compounds) is far less than the evidence against such
things as vaccinations or antibiotics or microwave
ovens or even the illegality of income tax, yet those
things endure anyway. Why? Because, even with the
internet, the majority of folks have never heard. And
when they have heard, they suspect the validity of the
sources.

If the FDA announced that they had 3 recent cases of
argyria caused by an "overdose" of 10 ppm colloidal
silver, with gray-faced photos to prove it, and it was
on the front page of every newspaper, you and I would
know it was a snow-job, but the public wouldn't. The
legislation that would be hurried through to "protect"
the citizenry from these "Silver Maniacs" (you and I)
would be unstoppable. Why, several of these people who
prey on the public with their toxic heavy-metal
products might even come forward and admit that, yes,
they knew it was dangerous, but the money was too
good, the public too gullible (you all know how good
the money is selling colloidal silver!). Several of
them might even get jail sentences (later suspended),
but the public would understand that, even though
there have been some complaints about the FDA, they're
after all just trying to protect us. They just get a
little overzealous, sometimes.

Whatever rational arguments that could be offered
against the FDA's claims, whatever scientific evidence
to the contrary, the public would never hear.

Do I sound pessimistic? Fatalistic? Probably. How do
you rally the nation to any kind of cause if the media
won't let you?

Those of us who would "never leave home without it"
still never will, but there may well be only a certain
amount of time left to sell and discuss colloidal
silver.

I hope I'm wrong.
