If the fish is fresh water .>> and the formaldehyde and malachite was added
over 12 hours ago :- take
four litres and one drinking glass of water from the fish tank.Take the
drinking glass water ( about !/4 litre ) and heat
in a micro for 30 secs. add 1.50 ounces pure salt ( no additives ). stir
until dissolved. Divide the four litres into two glass
containers, 2 litres each. Place the patient into one and slowly dribble in
the dissolved salt mixture.observe for adverse
reactions. leave for four mins. gently remove patient and place in the
fresh water bowl leave for ten mins. If you have a
small air pump use it in both bowls i.e.move it with the fish. Assuming
your CS is not more that 10-15 PPM very gradually,
over about 10 minutes, add 400 ml CS. Leave but observe for 20-30 mins. Add
a further 200ml. If the fish is not distressed too
leave for 30 mins. You then must, by dilution and replacement, return the
patients water to the same temperature
and conditioning as the aquarium. I have gone as high as a 1:1 ratio of
water to CS as a treatment for fancy carp and will
experiment further. Unfortunately in domestic aquariums lots of fish seem to
die from stress than other causes, by the time
its observed its usually too late. I wish you and the fish some better days
in the future.

I know some of you out there have experience with aquariums so I am asking
for expert advice.
I have a little fish, not sure what kind but from the looks I would guess
him to be a killifish of some sort.
He is very ill and I really don't want to lose him. He has been waning for
a couple of days and today he is on the bottom of the tank. He doesn't have
the strength to swim anymore. Hasn't eaten at all for two days.
There is no sign of sickness on his body and all the other fish are fine.
I cleaned the filters last weekend and did a 1/3 tank water change yesterday.
I took him out for a few minutes yesterday and put him into a fish bowl with
aeration and clean water but was afraid the drastic change in water quality
might put him over the edge so I put him back into the big tank.
I know I can't use CS in the big tank but I'm desperate and want to put him
back into the fish bowl with water from the big tank which I have medicated
with 'Quick Cure' which is 99.20% formaldehyde and .75% Malachite Green for ick
and lymphocystis and added some Ammo Lock. the medication doesn't seem to be
helping and I thought if I put some CS into the fish bowl water that might do
the trick.
I think it is an infection of some kind that's attacking him. It seems to
be in his head as that's where he shows the most symptom - the way he moves,
etc.
I'm not concerned about the biological balance because it is a short term
treatment and he will go back into the big tank if there's any sign of
improvement before the bacterial balance can hurt him - I hope.
Any advice or knowledge about this?
I have to do something tonight as I'm afraid to let him go through another
night without some intervention. He's very weak now but still fighting and
trying to move around.
I will greatly appreciate any help that can be given.
