Definitely off-topic but well worth knowing. These scams have been going on in Japan for some time via cell phones. The phone rings once or twice then stops. The phones have a function to record the caller's number; polite Japanese folks call back and get scammed for huge phone bills through sex service providers, who are of course criminal gang-operated in many cases.
The advice here is never call back anyone unless you know the person and the number. JBB TJ Garland wrote: > > A story in SOF Magazine about a telephone scam from the British Virgin > Islands.
