Probably you ended up with very healthy larvae on a sugar high. Maybe you didn't wait long enough or needed more ppm in the cs.

I then added a packet of Nutrasweet. 4 hours later, they are still alive. I just dumped them out to dry. Oh well, nice idea if it had worked.
