Again r.e. the FDA,  a recent article in Esquire claims that the FDA did
NOT want to approve aspartame as a sweetner by were pressured by
government friends of D. Rumsfeld, who was then CEO of G.D. Searle,
which makes the stuff.   I can not verify the accuracy of this claim; if
true,  it suggests that some in the FDA have the right inclinations but
lack the right stuff to stand up to bullying. . . .
