There has certainly been speculation on this point. I think I was the first to make this claim here in fact. But as of yet, I have not heard of any problems. Maybe we are missing something.
A horse has multiple stomachs. When it eats grass, it travels to the fermentation stomach. It is logical to assume that if that stomach is full of CS it will prevent the fermentation. But I am now wondering. Where does the water go when they drink water? Does it go to the final stomach? If so, the CS may not make it into the first stomach at all. That would explain why some have claimed giving their horse CS orally without difficulty. Anyone know? Marshall "Dean T.
