Hi All, I ran across an interesting ultrasonic nebulizer tonight while at Walgreen's Drug Store to pick up some distilled water.
It's a Halloween decoration that is a "witches caldron" that produces a fog of vapor over a pool of water. I just *had* to get one to try it out. The water chamber, which is open to the air, holds about 20 ounces of water, and the water can't be distilled for the caldron to work (it senses water level to turn on and off -- I assume by measuring water conductivity). The CS I make didn't quite turn it on, so I added a few drops of (diluted) Willard Water and it worked fine. I put my mouth/nose into the fog to see how easy it was to inhale, and it's almost as good as the medical nebulizer (Mabis Mist) that I have. Since it needed 20 ounces of water to start working, filling the water chamber with cleaned gravel intended for fish tanks should reduce the amount of CS needed by quite a bit. Oh, it cost $20 -- which is far cheaper than any other nebulizer, to my knowledge. -- Dean -- from (almost) Des Moines -- KB0ZDF -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
