<<<Jan Bolen writes- a frail 80 year old man that has cancer and is going
through chemotherapy. His biggest problem right now -- and this is no
laughing matter -- is that he has severe hiccups, every five to ten seconds
-- and is losing his will to live. He was told! that it was a side effect
to the chemotherapy. My question is: would colloidal silver, say, sprayed
from a nebulizer, do anything to alleviate that problem? Probably not, but
you never know....<<<<<

Jan- There are herbs in a class called anti-spasmodics that might help
with the esophageal spasms of the hiccups. Some members of that class that
act on the gastrointestinal system are Hops flower, Wild Yam root, Camomile
flower, Melissa herb (Lemon Balm), and Lavender flower. Demulcents that
soothe and moisten dryness can be combined with the above. Some that
moisten by stimulating mucus production are Chickweed herb, Iceland Moss,
Marsh mallow root, Slippery elm bark, and Red Clover flower. Some that
contain mucilage but don't cause mucus secretion are Licorice root, Borage
leaf, Mullein leaf, and Aloe gel. (From The Energetics of Western Herbs by
Peter Holmes.)

Hope this helps and God bless,
Nancy W
