The view of the electrodes is distorted by the water. Here is what the underside of the lid really looks like: http://207.177.74.117/cs-lid.jpg That is the lid from the half-gallon Rubbermaid storage jar I used to use before switching to the glass suntea jar. What I did was take a sharp knife and make two parallel slits in the lid 2 inches apart. I then jammed the electrodes into the slits, leaving only a tiny bit sticking out of the top to which I attach the aligator clips. I drilled two holes in the lid: one for the tube and one for the air to escape. The gray staining in the lid and a tiny amount of gunk I wipe from the electrodes after each batch is the only debris I have to deal with; nothing settles out that I can see. Even so, I still let the CS sit a couple days and then decant it using the suntea jar's spigot. I use the middle portion and pour the bottom and surface portions of the CS into the decorative fountain from which the kitties all drink. Speaking of kitties, one of ours is especially photogenic: http://207.177.74.117/bilitis2.jpg How could I possibly not open the door and let her in after she flashes that face at me?
