Ibogaine was originally "discovered" by African native hunters, who supposedly would consume large doses of it before going on important hunts, so they could remain attentive yet perfectly still in the brush while the prey approached.
It is also the "fictitious" drug that Hunter S. Thompson accused Maine Sen.
