<<<<<<<<<<<One may either load gelatin capsules with the granulated kelp or
consume it in combination with granulated lecithin (necessary as an
emulsifier to allow ease of swallowing). Kelp is hygroscopic in nature and
does
pose a gagging problem for some people.....when quantities of one teaspoon or
larger are taken alone......in granulated or powdered form. Tablets do not
present this challenge......but present the problem of requiring the
consumption
of a considerable number (8 to 12, 50 mg tablets) daily. If you choose to load
capsules, #2 seem to be the best compromise between size and the total
volume requirement. A minimum of 4 #2 capsules appears to be the general
rule...for
continued dietary/health support.
I posted a protocol for consuming granulated kelp a year or
so ago. It is in the archives----somewhere; however just mixing one teaspoon
of lecithin and one teaspoon of kelp together and placing in the mouth with
enough water to constitute a "slurry", swishing around for 4 or 5 seconds and
then diluting with more water and drinking-----provides a simple and easy
solution for the problems of attempting to take powdered forms of kelp
alone....without emulsifying>>>>>>>>

On a package of Dulse flakes it recommends taking it by sprinkling on soup
or stirring in upon serving, or adding to food dishes like stir-fries.
Some people sprinkle granulated kelp on all their food as though it were
salt. I've taken granulated kelp by putting it in our nightly health drink
with Vitamin C powder, flavored effervescent mineral powder, MSM, colloidal
minerals, and varying herb powders, alkalinizing powder, green barley
powder, beef gelatin- whatever I'm taking at the moment. Some forms of
seaweed I've bought cheaply at the Chinese grocery store can be munched
straight as a salty snack food.

Thanks for the recent posts about needing more iodine in the diet. I
haven't been taking kelp for a long time.
