LORDY! Please don't dump silver into a fish tank or pond, folks!

You probably took out whatever "cooperative" bacteria the fish depends
on internally as well as stressed the whole pond, Andy.

The "biological filter", consisting of bacteria that convert fish
wastes to less toxic nitrates and nitrites, lives in the sand and
gravel at the bottom of the pond or tank, and in the mechanical
filter, if there is one.

Adding any kind of anti-bacterial will kill off some or all of those
colonies and dump all sorts of decaying matter into the water while at
the same time allowing fish wastes to build up.

A sick fish can be treated with CS in an isolation tank, if it's
carefully monitored for pH and pollution levels. It will have to be a
completely unfiltered tank, so it's harder to stabilize conditions.

Andy's experience is a good reminder.

Be well,
