Lynda asks: > A friend and her daughter have silver allergy. > Anyone have experience with CS and silver allergies? > Is it really the other elements in silver, such as sterling silver, > that cause the allergy?
We had one mysterious case where a onetime list member took the first dose of her home-made CS and had a frightening reaction that had all the hallmarks of an allergic response bordering on anaphylactic shock. Needless to say she immediately stopped taking any silver preparations, on her doctor's advice, though she didn't need much persuading. The strange thing was she'd previously been using a commercial preparation that had been used by a number of list members at the time with good results, and that was supposedly stronger than what she made at home... We never did find out exactly what happened. My advice to anyone using CS for the first time, or changing brands, is to take an *extremely* small initial dose and wait an hour or two before taking any significant amount. Literally a few drops or a fraction of a teaspoon. Anyone who is known to have sensitivity to silver may want to steer completely clear, or at least be doubly cautious. Be well, Mike D.
