Hi Diane,

Actually it is not a bad idea to tell the doctor what herbs
you are taking. Some are contraindicated with certain
drugs. Hopefully, the doc would be in agreement with
complimentary medicine. The herbalist should also
know what is contraindicated...I know in TX Chinese
Herbalists/acupuncturists have to pass a Nat'l herb
exam to practice. And, the required schooling includes
quite abit of Western Med. including Pharmacology.
It is the herbalist's butt they'll go after if something
goes wrong with contraindications, not the MD's.
Personally, I wouldn't go to a Dr. that didn't agree
with complimentary medicine. I have no insurance
so I can choose freely. I wonder if your friend's vet
was able to tell her why no CS....did she question this?
I have a vet who believes in complimentary med....
and, actually, recently gave me a kitten to care for
hoping something in the alt-med world could save
it...alas, no. Kit
PS. It is interesting that Chinese med. has a long
history of using silver and gold in cures. A Chinese
doc told me of his wife boiling a gold necklace and
giving the water to their daughter.
