CS>Silver Bullion Slug

I have some 1 troy ounce Silver Bullions 
Question if I use a clean block of steel and a clean hammer is there any
reason or Danger in Flattening out the
Silver to get a greater surface area
Planning on using for Low Voltage CS , probably less than 20 Volts DC.
I rarely use more than 12 Volts DC.
