Sorry, I cannot answer your question but,  When my son was  4-5 years old he 
had ear tubes put in for infections.  One did fall out and the other did have 
tissue grow around it; its called a polyp(sp?) and had to be removed in the 
doctors office because it was causing him problems. 
He has stopped having ear infections - maybe because he is 31 years old!!!
