Marshall, I think you misunderstood what Catherine said: "This is about 10% of the possible adverse reactions one can have to Accutane." >I think Retin A is similar and > topical, so it might help > as well, but I am not sure of that. Natural Vitamin A, in large doses (about 200,000 IU to 300,000 IU daily), has been tried by some doctors, health practitioners, and lay people with good success and absence of reported long term serious negative side effects. > Accutane is only available by prescription, so if > the doctor is any good he > should be able to identify if it is the proper > course of action or not. There's a saying: "If all you have is a hammer, everything seems a nail to you." Regular doctors usually have a very limited range of approaches to treating diseases. Example: when I was in high school, I had exzema, and you know what doctors (American doctors, that is) say about it -- that there's no cure for it. Fortunately, I was in another country at the time, and the last doctor I went to with that problem (I've gone to probably at least 5 doctors) prescribed injections of splenin. After about 10 injections or so, my long term problem went away and have not reappeared for about 15 years now. Splenin is an extract of some animal organ (spleen, I think). It's thought to improve function of several organs and systems. > C Creel wrote: > > > Because it is a high-risk drug, Accutane should > be reserved for cases of > > "severe recalcitrant nodular acne," according to > the product's labeling. > > This type of acne is resistant to standard acne > treatment, including oral > > antibiotics, and is characterized by many nodules > or cysts--inflammatory > > lesions filled with pus and lodged deep within the > skin. "standard acne treatment" are key words here. It appears foolish to me to think that there are only standard treatments (for any disease), and everything outside that domain is nonexistent. But there are enough people who think that way. Roman __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier.
