Ahh yes, the very first example of FDA ignorance and double speak I ran
across.
Apparently, because "we" don't know anything and are not being funded to
find out, "YOU" are not allowed to know anything either...or find out.
"FDA is not aware of any substantial scientific evidence that supports the
> safe
> and effective use of colloidal silver ingredients or silver salts for any
> animal
> disease condition."
..nor do they have any evidence to the contrary...but that doesn't mean
that none exists.
"According to several scientific publications mentioned in the
> October 15, 1996 Federal Register proposal, the human consumption of silver
> may result in argyria -- a permanent ashen-gray or blue discoloration of the

> conjunctiva, and internal organs."
"May result" includes billion to one odds with no parameters of probablilty
or doseage factors included in the statement. Further reading of the
studies on argryia reveal that the experimentors had a very hard time
inducing the condition on purpose, often failing when attempting to
actually kill the subject. [and failing to kill the subject as well]
You are also not allowed to experiment with metorite strikes. [That "could
be" dangerous!]
In the name of our demands for security, we will be protected into
thoughtless oblivian.

Yep, CS works great on mastitis, so the FDA had to step in to protect the
phams. This is actually a few years old.
