My very thoughts, though in fact applied to family prevention here in Japan. An milligram of prevention = a kilogram of cure, right? I think a small misting bottle of CS, carried by each member of the family and used to spray nostrils and throat on a regular basis, combined with once-daily nebulizing in the evening, could be an effective means of prevention. Spraying the hands periodcally could also help.
Studies have proven that anti-viral/microbial tissues produced dramatic reductions in colds and flu in offices in which they were used; despite this, most folks will not pay the extra price to blow their noses, and a very good product died in the marketplace. We, however, need not be so careless as the general public, and can take our own preventive measures. It might even be clever to use the face masks but add the extra protection of routine sprays of CS to the outside and inside. We can not readily do controlled experiments, but we can try this and collect our anecdotes. . . .
