The poison in ivy, sumac, poison oak is all the same. Urushiol. It is an oil, so you need to get rid of the oil. The runaway best thing I have found (and I am extremely allergic) is just plain hot water. I get the shower as hot as I can stand it and itching disappears. It will swell up, but I think this is bringing the lymph in and that is what gets rid of it... any comment?
