Go to the folder of /program files/netscape/users/[your user name]/mail
and delete the inbox.snm file.  That will delete the index file for your
inbox which is most likely corrupted. You can save a copy if you like in
case this does not fix it.

Then bring up Netscape and open the communicator.  It will say
rebuilding index file, and when done it should be fine. This has
happened to me serveral times.
