Hi Friends,

Mike hasn't taken me off the list yet, and this morning I have a baby bird
emergency I thought one of you might have some experience with. This is a
tiny
baby, half naked. Yesterday he was robust, and the Wildlife people advised
me to put him in a "nest" up in the tree near where I found him, because the
cats in the area were so interested. The hope was that the parents would
return, find him and feed him. I was to check him this morning.

Well, this morning at first look I thought he had died. But he is close to
death. I've brought his nest back inside and am warming him up, and he is
wiggling a little more and breathing more deeply. I've got calls into wildlife
rehabilitators, but so far, no return calls. I've read what I can find online,
and I know that it depends on the type of bird as to what you do. I've got no
idea what type of baby this is. What looks promising is to squeeze an
organic grape and place a drop on this baby's beak.

While I'm getting ready to go out for organic grapes, I thought maybe one of
you would have good information about safe nestling food (it would have to be
liquid, in this kid's condition).

And CS and birds... any experience? I don't think CS is the ticket right off
the bat, but I'd like to know, in case... I remember year ago when someone
said an experiment in offering CS in water near their honeybees ended up
killing the hive.

As always, thanks to all.

And, by the way, I've set aside several private emails to send thanks re
cancer treatment ideas... Let me just take this one moment, as the day
threatens
to spiral out of plan, to send my love and thanks to each of you who took time
to help my sister's family. <3 Your kindness is legendary!
