Marshall, I haven't been aware of the history of which you speak, regarding the FDA's creation due to the threat posed to the drug companies by CS and other so called alternatives. I'd be grateful if you could cite the source of this very interesting information! Where is the history accurately recounted? I would savour every word. Meanwhile I'll stand by my assertion that a big part of what's involved is neurosis. I think it's also easy to justify regulation and the approval process on the basis of the flim flam alternatives. Just the other day I was taken to task in a presentation I did, that rhino horn and other snake oil do indeed justify government warning, and the seeds of 'claiming to be protecting the public.' That CS gets catagorized with rhino horn is unfortunate, but it does feed the neurosis. At the bottom line the business experts at the drug companies would be especially prone to justification by neurosis. Reid
Marshall wrote: I disagree. Study your history. Silver was a primary curative agent before the FDA, and basically the FDA and drug companies stomped it out back in the 30's. I had read somewhere the the FDA was created specifically to eliminate silver and other non-patentable curative agents from the doctor's cabinets as they were costing the pharms dearly. So they proposed that any drug must require an approval process that requires millions of dollars, knowing that anything that was not patentable would never be approved since there would never be any incentive to get it approved. An underhanded way of protecting their profits while claiming to be protecting the public. Marshall -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
