As usual, the YELLOW PRESS has only half the story. The actual truth
of the matter is that the Prairie Dogs have been falsely accused as the
perpetrator of this incident. In actual fact the culprit is the Gambian
rat, indigenous to African nations. It has now been established that it
was a Giant Gambian rat inhabitant of the Pet Shop from which the
epizootic originated.....that was the SOURCE of the monkeypox------the
Prairie Dogs became infected and served as the vector for the human
cases. Again, the prairie dog is the undeserving victim of an
ill-informed media....which makes its living from sensationalism.
