Never having had a hot tub, I haven't paid much attention to what has been discussed here, but the local paper carried an article about ENCLOSED hot tubs. The subject is being refer ed to as hot tub lung.
"The culprit is nontuberculosis mycobacteria, one of several microbes, that can thrive in hot tub water. The steam and bubbles aerosolize ( is that a valid word? :-) ) the tiny organism, making it easy to breathe in. " Quoting one victim -- "It was a flu-like thing where I was totally exhausted..." . She also had a "...persistent cough." The only reference was to -- Dr.Cecil Rose National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, CO by Bill Radford The Colorado Springs Gazette Jack -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
