The common wisdon here is that CS does not discriminate as to types of bacteria etc, BUT, the semi solid consistancy of the gut contents isolates the silver making it almost inert, therefore doesn't kill that "frindly" flora unless you have the hershie squirts and the gut has gone liquid. [can't seem to spell that other 'dire rear' word]. In that case, CS kills everything very fast especially things associated with various forms of food poisoning, dysentary and the like.
A while back the list did a survey of over 300 regular CS users and only 2? had any complaints that might be relevant. I saw somewhere that digestion was enzymic in nature and that bacteria and stomach acid wasn't even necessary for 'that' but did serve other functions that also may not be all that relevent to modern diet and food prep situations. Bottom line: Even if the dog and cats drink straight up CS every day 'instead' of water, they don't seem to have any adverse symptoms. ...and they seem to prefer it over plain water.
