As I wrote some time ago, Esquire magazine claimed in a long article about Donald Rumseld and Dick Cheney, that the former was boss of Searle (or recently retired from Searle and in governement service again -- forgot which) when asparatame was to be rejected by the FDA.

That is right: the FDA, supposedly in bed with the big pharms, was set to reject aspartame. If Esquire is right, it was arm twisting by Rummy that got aspartame approved. Considering the nightmare in Iraq, it is not hard to imagine Rummy bullying a big bureaucracy into doing destructive things.

Apropos CS, it is easy to imagine similarly venal and destructive efforts by arrogant persons having financial interests in eliminating this home-made germicidal. I hope that never happens.

Hi Marshall & Jack,
Thanks for your good info that you share on this site. I sent the Dorway info to several friends and hope they'll strive to get all their loved ones off Aspartame. Are you each familiar with Mercola.com? He is a DO & writes a Free Newsletter that is very interesting & well-informed. Dr. Mercola says
FDA has had more complaints on Aspartame than on total of all other
products. He says it's bad & that in his opinion, much money had to line
palms in order to get it approved.
B-a-a-a-a-d!
