Thanks, jr. I don't have the diameter of 14 ga handy, but that sounds 
close. I wonder how Bruce folds in all such a small space, and how he 
supports it? 14 ga is a bit flimsier than 12 ga. I have 48 inches of 12 
ga in a spiral - any more and it definitely would need some kind of 
support. But I don't know how to do that without risking unwanted 
chemical reactions at the cathode, or introducing hot spots.

I'll try to find time to go through the calculations. The target current 
is hard to figure out without knowing the initial cell resistance, 
which we won't know until the thing is built and filled with dw. It also 
changes with the quality of the dw.

It look feasible, but I think the brew time will be longer than 
originally planned.
