Exactly the same arguments made when the widespread use of barcodes was 
envisioned.   What happened to

toilet then this is just an extension of 
that particular mindset...

Since physics restricts the possible range why not just carry a pager sized 
jammer?  Better yet, a device that 
emits the proper "code" to whatever you desire.  The only reason most checkout 
personnel are used today is to 
pass the merchandise across the scanner, process paper checks and put your eggs 
in the bottom of the bag full 
of can goods.  When the process is really automated then the checker will be 
extincted (sic) and I'll go home with 
a truck full of "kat fud"!
