I think that Svedberg, the
Nobel laureate colloidalist,
said that the advantages
of HVAC did not become
really noticeable until RF
and higher frequencies are
used. (He was referring to
the Bredig underwater arc
method, which is a pre-1938
grandfathered method for sure.)

Also, microwave ovens  that
are broken and otherwise
ready for the scrap-pile may
be put to good use. The have
important  built-in safey features.
They might make handy
Faraday cages to sequester
what would otherwise be
undesirable RF escaping
(for those who might want to
do RF Bredig process work
like that of Svedberg.)
Also, the lock-out mechanism
and circuitry might protect those
who wish to sequester a HVDC
setup.
