I've been waiting to see what others had to say on this topic. I'm a fan of DMSO and I've heard enough about Castor Oil packs from reliable people to put them on my list of things to try someday. That said, I would be leery of combining the two unless I'd done enough research to be completely sure it wouldn't be dangerous. The part of the castor bean that does the work is a powerful toxin called Ricin. It's use as a purgative and, in your case, to loosen adhesions, relates to its ability to disrupt cellular function in a limited way in limited doses. DMSO can act to potentiate the effects of the things it transports by vastly increasing permeability of cell membranes. That means that the medicinal -- or toxic -- effects of anything you apply with it can be made *many* times more powerful than when administered in the normal way. With the ricin in castor oil, could this maybe get dangerous? So until you *know* the effects of ricin delivered into every cell in your body by the transport and potentiation ability of DMSO, I'd go very slowly, indeed. A quick Google search led me to this page: http://museum.gov.ns.ca/poison/castor.htm I'd start with www.dmso.org and follow every link and check out every report I can find about clinical uses of DMSO, to see if there was any prior art for the combination you're thinking about. Contact Dr. Jacobs or his associates and ask them your questions. I don't want you to stop studying the idea on account of my caution. After all, I don't have any answers myself, only questions. But please be sure you know what you're doing before you start testing this idea. Meanwhile, if the plain CO packs are known to work, then give 'em a try as written. Be well, Mike D.
