GSE is preserved with Benzalkonium chloride, some say that is what kills the bacteria and not the GSE. I personally am allergic to the Benzalkonium, it is in spermicides and dry cleaning treatments for carpet. Makes me itch and break out in a rash. Not an uncommon allergy either.
