Just be careful when stripping out the gel. Don't try to get every last bit so you don't get the yellow stuff (forgot what it is called).
CS will not protect you from the runs as it is a chemical effect not a microbe. I still used homegrown Aloe internally, I just got more careful about how I stripped it out.
