The worms are tape worms. Often an animal lives with tape worms with no
deleterious effect to the animal. They go through a period of shedding
the segments, the adult is much larger. I know of one Reptile keeper who
wormed his very expensive King Cobra. It killed the snake. On necropsy
it was found that the very large tapeworm it had was the cause of death,
when it died.

The moral is that tapeworms, indeed many parasites, know that they
depend on their host organism to live. It is well known among vet
parisitologists that worms will wax and wane with the supply of fresh
grass, out of a survival instinct for their host.

This does not mean worms are good, it just means that if there are no
other overwhelming disease symptoms, then this cat is probably not
suffering. Also fleas carry tape worms, so if there are ANY fleas in
this cats life, worming it will do no good, they will simply reinfest to
the point of balance they are at now.

There are natural wormers, I have used some on my dogs, but I do not
know if they are ok for cats. For dogs I use a small amount of Apple
Cider Vinegar on the food for one week, wait ten days and repeat.
