I ran across a couple articles that talked about vitamin A preventing emphesema. There is one listed below. I do not have the link to the other one, but it was stronger in it's conviction that vitamin A acts as a preventer. If you are concerned about taking a supplement, then just find food that is high in it and add it to your diet. They did not speak about amounts in either article.
