Hi, Members of the List, It is common knowledge that EIS can leave stains on white surfaces. Ordinarily this may be a nuisance. But it might be put to good use. Separation of the fractions in EIS (monatomic and varieties of polyatomic silver as well as undissociated compounds) might be made visible and maybe measureable by a very inexpensive method: paper chromatography using flattened-out coffee filter paper disks. A small amount of EIS placed on the center of such a paper disk will spread out by capillary action with differing speeds, depending on the molecular weights of the different components.
Has anybody tried coffee filter EIS chromatography yet? Thanks in advance for your input. Best regards, Matthew
