The FDA "approved" DMSO for cystitis. They do not sanction is use for any other conditions once it is approved that is all that is required for legal use. There has long been a huge controversy over DMSO fueled by concern of Big Pharma over financial loses. FDA standards for New Drug Applications were not applied to DMSO as they are to other drugs. Charges were trumped up, and settled, with apologies issued by the FDA I might add.
It is legal for all uses that a doctor might prescribed simply by virtue of the fact that is an approved substance. With a better track record than Aspirin as far as toxicity goes. Which is zero.
