The latest Harper's magazine has a FINE essay about the decline in
America's public health system. Essential reading for list members,
methinks.
Note in particular mention of a certain water-borne cyst,
Cryptosporidium (sp?) that is common and very powerful and can be
removed from public water supplies ONLY by proper sub 1-micron
filtration. Even pure household chlorine bleach can't kill this
pathogen, so even CS is not enough to keep us well if public health
systems fail.
Fascinating essay by an MD who cares. . . .
