Greetings all, I feel like I've finally accomplished *something* with the day! I tracked down the owner/operator of the eScribe service and found out what the problem with the archives is.
Many of you will recall that a couple of weeks back the archives went down for a few days after a crash of the main database hard disk. Apparently, now the main boot disk on the server crashed as well. The new disk is installed and everything is being rebuilt, but it's likely to be a handful of days yet before it's back online. I suspect he's been pretty swamped with several things going on at once, and that communicating with the user base was a casualty. It's a no-charge, one-man, spare time operation, so we sorta get what we're paying for. That said, it's been a boon to us for several years. I hope that helps. There are some folks who read the list strictly at the archives, and it's being gone has been a worry for them.
