I and others have reported similar reactions on initial use of CS. In
my case it was quite unpleasant, a cold yet burning sensation that I
imagine must be what ulcer sufferers feel. I speculate that the CS was
killing some pathogen, as the effect disappeared after several uses.
Others have reported the same effect.

It might just be coincidental, but I think it is the CS.
