The gel is just thickened juice. They use carragenan to thicken it. I would just buy organic aloe vera juice and mix it with that, unless there is a need for the thickness of the gel. It is not a natural gel, as in a freshly stripped aloe leaf.
BTW I have never quite figured out how to strip a leave without getting some of the astringent substance from the leave, which is also likely to cause diarhhea if ingested. Definitely tastes bad.
