Wouldn't the permeability go both ways?

If DMSO allows enough penetration of fluids to increase 
intraocular pressure, wouldn't it allow those same fluids
under pressure to escape?

Perhaps it only works on individual cells though, rather than 
on something like the cavity of the eye...?

Hi Garnet,

Thank your for the useful info. The rabbit experiment has never been
duplicated, and involved massive doses.  It was clouding in the lens. 
I
am curious about the short term intraocular pressures.  Do the
references you mention address that?
